Default Torque Converter problems

My buddy has a 2001 Mustang GT with a supercharger. Here's his problem:
I think my tq converter has some issues.
- I have trouble keeping rpm up in the burn out box. Once i shift into second and get the rpms up to about 4K,
the rpms start to crawl back down pretty quick.
- I blow thru first gear rediculously fast. I mean like within 80ft.
- At the top portion of second, 5200K, the rpms actually walk backwards to about 4800 and then crawl to
redline.
- Top of third I get up to about 5400K and the rpms drop back down and the car attempts to go to redline again.

The converter is a single disc PI with a 3000 stall speed. I think that I have too much power and the converter is having difficulty locking up until the top of the gears. Is this true?

If this is the reason, anybody have experience with pulling a converter and such. I have not pulled mine yet and am not looking forward to it. It looks like I will have to pull it, send it to PI, wait who nows how long, and then reinstall it.
What can you guys tell me about it?
