That's where I'm thinking I'll be OK with the Ford T-loc... I'm just an automatic w/ a 3.06 first gear and a 3200 Vigilante converter

The True Trac seems to be the next big thing, I know a couple people running them in F-Bodys, be interesting to see how they hold up.

The stock axles are horrible and seem to be worse on the Mach 1's? The stock trac lok will go but can be rebuilt with extra clutches and hold quite a bit. My buddy's 03 Cobra has a repacked trac lok and has done ALOT of 1.5 60 ft's without an issue.
trust me, in no way is that 8.8 as weak as the 7.5 10 bolt. i even heard of some third gen f-body guys trying to do 8.8" swaps into their camaros.

i cant even figure out how gm thought that rear would actually make it. The 6-speed cars with a hard clutch dump are break the rear end and they are completely stock.

The GM 10 bolt isn't THAT weak, if driven properly. I finally broke mine after over a year of running 4.10's in a 3650 lb. car in the 11's, dropping the clutch at 4500 to 5500 .. Its kinda like the T5 3rd gear -- treat it right, and it'll handle quite a bit more power than it was designed for.

Still no match for the 8.8 though

the only time I have seen the 7.5 last when doing clutch dumps is having a slipping clutch.

... or the user controlling the shock off the line. I'd load the gears by holding the clutch ever so slightly against the friction point while waiting for the lights to come down, and I wouldn't just side-step the pedal. A little finesse goes a long way -- or I just got really lucky

I used to slip the clutch off the line in my 94 Z28 but the night I decided to try dumping the clutch, it wasnt hooking but it damn sure broke, even had an LPW Support Cover on it. The spider gears and cross pin broke, blew everything in there. Rebuilt it with an Eaton Posi, Strange Gears and added the stud kit and it never broke but I was never able to really lean on it off the line.
