View Full Version : Ok, lets hear it, what have you broke at the track?
Bitemark46 04-25-2006, 10:14 AM Ford or Chevy.
I broke my drivers side axle bearing on DR's (when my rear was stock) then a different time I managed to weld my pressure plate to the disk.
Wifes car- spark plug boot came off. :eyes: :jest:
Anybody beat that? :drive: -Mark
EDIT: oh and managed to rip my airbag in my rear suspension. sounded like there was a snake under my car.
Larry 04-25-2006, 12:53 PM I've broken my whole car! Wrecked my 88 just past the 1/8 mile a couple years back. Parted the car out.
Brains 04-25-2006, 02:32 PM I broke the gears in the Formula, but managed to drive it home and fix it :)
n/a93lx 04-27-2006, 03:05 PM I broke my output shaft in the trans then pushing up on the trailer it rolled off the ramp and cracked my fender. Not a good day!!!
Gold Z 05-05-2006, 03:19 AM With my present car...3 trannys, 2 torque converters, 1 rear gears, 2 differentials, lifted the heads twice.
Nothing. Just always at the track with friends when they break :D
169stang 05-10-2006, 12:22 PM In my 05 :bang:
I spread the stock differential as well as an Auburn Pro after 4 passes. Tru trac is the way to go in this car. Ate up one set of gears too.
I managed to pull the carrier bearing support on the 2 pc. driveshaft off of the body (at launch) which lengthened the drive shaft, shoved everything forward, cracked the bellhousing as well as about 8 cracks all around the rear of the block. I've also broken the shifter linkage slamming gears. Roasting the stock clutch is a given :drive:
I think that's about it. I can't seem to recall anything else at this time.
Gold Z 05-10-2006, 11:27 PM Damn, that thing must launch hard. What kind of 60' times are you getting out of it?
169stang 05-11-2006, 10:00 AM Leaving at 6K, I was only getting 1.6's. Once I finish up the turbo install, it should get into the 1.4's.
The sad thing is that I was getting 1.8's on stock tires (Pirelli P Nero's).
Robert B. 05-11-2006, 02:42 PM my old coupe broke a stock axle on street tires... ended up needing a new diff after the axle mushroomed to where we couldnt get it out :( thankfully blue91 (fred) and a few other of the guys were there to help with taking it apart and after a few days putting it back together! :hail: after it broke i kept going and ran my fastest pass of the day with my wheel sticking half way out on the big end lol
fotgot to say i also destroyed 3rd gear in that car and a set of fms gears on the car i have now
So far nothing, just the rules for running to fast. Once I get some decent tires I am sure the axles will be next.
dan03mach 05-15-2006, 02:33 AM I think I have broken more stuff at the track then anyone.. Lets see, I broke the stock clutch, the stock tranny, the input shaft in my Tremec 3550, bent the out put shaft in it, Upgaded everything too a TKO, Broke the 3rd gear, broke the bearing retainer, a set of Motive 4.30 gears, Many spider gears in a Ford 31 spline carrier, bent the stock drive shaft, tore a poly pushing in a set of UPR upper control arms. Basicly I have broken everything in the drivetrain.. One of my axle tubes spun on me doing a burn out at the track.. Since I broken all of that stuff my drivetrain now is built like a tank..
Blown284 12-10-2006, 06:01 PM If you're not breaking shit ... you're not racing! :eek2:
CHEVRACER83 12-14-2006, 08:07 PM GOD WHERE TO START...

on my malibu wagon... 7 engines, 12 transmissions (damn 4L60) 1 wheel, 1 shock, 2 diffs, 3 balancers, 1 procharger, 1 vortech
on my mustang drag car...
