View Full Version : Max Horsepower with a stock bottom end 5.0N20 04-11-2006, 01:16 PM What's the most horsepower ever achieved by a stock bottom end 5.0 mustang with forced induction (turbo/sc)? | Powered by Satan | 04-11-2006, 04:24 PM well if it is a stock block, it will crack right down the middle and splite the block if it sees alot of 500hp ... but w/ all the different f/i, nitrous setups i have seen 5.0 motors make well over 600hp Sukkoi19 04-13-2006, 02:35 AM If youve got a good tune you can live with 550 rwhp for awhile. Its really a crap shoot after 450 rwhp. Some will split immediatly while others hang on forever. n/a93lx 04-14-2006, 08:58 AM I should be around 650 hp N/A but we will see in a few weeks and we will see how long the block last at that number. It will be fun to say the least :chug: Saleen91 04-15-2006, 08:53 AM Sukkoi19 hit the nail on the head. I ran 575rwhp on a completely stock shortblock for a couple of years, but my tune was spot on. I was nervous on each pass I made waiting to see 0 oil pressure, but luckily I never did. It is a TOTAL crap shoot on anything over 500 IMO. I've seen blocks split with only 450rwhp, and I've seen them live (on the dyno) to 650rwhp. Aren't manufacturing tolerances great? :) BTW, my #'s were done with a supercharger. Quick86 04-17-2006, 01:51 AM I've really only seen guys run ~525/550hp MAX on stock bottom-end. Personally, I wouldn't risk it.. But thats me :) n/a93lx 04-18-2006, 12:45 PM But the risk is sometime the fun of it all blue302stang 04-18-2006, 07:07 PM Get it tuned well and you will be fine. Also another thing to think about is the rpm range you will take it upto. a 550hp stock block that revs to 5000rpm will last longer than a 500hp stock block that revs to 6000rpms. |
