Looking back at my log of a pass last week I see where after launch I'm going over 30 mph before reaching the advertised peak torque of 4500. I reached 4520.8 rpm @ 31.08 mph. It feels like it too at launch. No wonder this car won't 60'.
On the good side, I'm reading 30.75 degrees of timing at that point. No less than 30 the whole way.
On shift extensions, 1-2 drops to 4857 rpm, 2-3, 4344 and 3-4, 4212. It feels like it's falling on it's face on those last two shifts.
I don't have a recent of my Camaro's but I believe at launch it's around 3800 rpm with no less than 5200 rpm between shifts. I have a PI 3600 converter in it.
This stang would greatly benefit from a loose converter.

The mustang has a flat timing curve after something like 5,000 rpm or so I belive.

How loose are you thinking...3500 or so?

Should be interesting to see how one reacts to a good stall.

How loose are you thinking...3500 or so?If the factory torque rating is correct and I don't have any reason to believe it isn't, then we will need a 4000 stall for best et. You want your stall 500 rpm below peak torque.
In reality I feel the PI 3600 would be a great converter for our automatics. I would not get that TCI 3000. Just not loose enough. I've had good results with my Camaro although it needs a little looser for max et. But I do drive it on the street on occasion and to the track 54 miles one way.
I have a PI 3600, I am just waiting to get off of nights to install it. Previous best before was 13.46@102 with a tuner only in November.

ONLY if when I am ready: you pull it out and install it in my car in perfect working order. :chug:

ONLY if when I am ready: you pull it out and install it in my car in perfect working order. :chug:Ok, bring it over and we will stick it in. But be sure to bring two, one for each of us.
You are going to like the performance after you get it in. No more lag at shift. And at any speed when you punch it it will go. You are going to need some sticky tires though!
