Any bone stock LS1s in Houston?

If you have a bone stock LS1 f-body in Houston, and want to see how well a 2006 GT can or can't hang, PM me. I live on the NW side and would be interested in some experimental testing in the name of racing science. Nice long stretches of beltway up here :)

Tony

dan03mach 03-10-2006 08:03 PM

I don't think there is any stock LS1 F-bodys left out there..

Brains 03-10-2006 08:11 PM

Hmmm.. closest I have for you is a stock 2004 GTO :)

Larry 03-10-2006 08:44 PM

Hey Tony, my 98 has a factory mass air body, factory throttle body, factory plenum, factory heads, factory block, factory rear gear (3.23) and factory axles. No power adder and on DOT tires. Is that bone stock enough? Whoops, got an aftermarket cam....

I'll put my Camaro against any Mustang that can say the same thing.

Would be fun to put my new stang up against yours. But at the track!

You would get beat down.

Call the guy that you sold your 99 Hugger SS to!

Brains 03-10-2006 11:33 PM

Hate to bench race, cuz I'm not quite done with my Mustang yet, but it basically fits those criteria :secret2: I'll run the Camaro when I finish her up :D

LOL-your worse than Bill Clinton. Anyways, Slick Willy: I met you over at KT's garage once. You did a good job on getting his car to run. Too bad he crashed it a couple days later lol.

Brains 03-11-2006 12:24 AM

Yeah, no joke :( I tried to tell him to clean up all the BS wiring and other mess, but he was just too excited to get it on the street...

That car went 12.84 showroom stock, on stock tires. Then I added a lid and longtubes, and CME exhaust. Its probably a 12.50 car now.

dan03mach 03-12-2006 12:38 AM

Those are some damn good times for being stock.. When my Mach was bone stock I took it to the 1/4 mile track just one time to see what it would do and it ran 13.3@104 bone stock, then I put on a set of 26x8.5x15 ET Drags and it ran 12.8@104... Then the mods came and times got faster..

Nine Ball 03-12-2006 08:40 AM

weird, thats the trap speed mine ran too. 12.84 @ 104 mph. 60' time was 1.81

Stang Man 03-13-2006 01:15 PM

Our Z28 is pretty much stock, all its got is a lid/filter and a clutch.

12.9 @ 108. Full weight with cat-back and lid/filter and Nitto's.

Launched at 5,500 and bogged to a 1.9 60'.

Damn heavy ass cars.....I'd like to take it back to HRP when it gets cold again...

slowmofo 03-28-2006 05:23 PM

a bone stock ls1 car in houston is like a stock 5.0... they don't exist do they??

PNYKLR2 03-30-2006 11:29 PM

Mine is pretty much stock except for flowmaster muffler hehe. I try to keep mine original. But I live in IL.

unit213 03-31-2006 12:18 PM

I don't believe there are any stock LS1's left. :D

Tony - Why not race a stock Mach1. They are pretty close in terms of performance with a stock LS1.

BWH2003 03-31-2006 02:43 PM

Are there even any stock Mach 1's or cobra's left either?

Dude, don't you guys ever look at performance cars on eBay?
There are tons of factory stock cars on there. Most of them are advertised as having been owned by an older person, but even though some of that is "enhancement" by the dealership, I think a lot of guys bought these cars and are out of the loop regarding the performance aftermarket, other than a pair of flowmasters with ugly tips.

There really are a huge amount of every make and model left in factory stock condition, some of them have less than 10k miles and other impressive shit like that too. My favorite are the ones with the stickers on the tires, although I don't see Nine Ball getting a run from them, haha.

unit213 04-01-2006 12:26 PM

Ballistic Jello - We're just joking. Obvisously there are stock LS1's out there. It just seems
like everyone modifies them. LS1Tech has over 60,000 members now I think. That's a
lot of modified LS1's. :D

BWH2003 04-01-2006 12:30 PM

Unfortunately we will never have that many with the 03-04 cobras. Considering they made a total of under 20,000 cars it will be likely that we may only come in contact with around 10,000 of them. The good thing the LS1 has going for it is they made them in huge numbers.

Ballistic Jello 04-01-2006 09:55 PM

That's the great thing about LS1TECH. Almost all of the members have a damn fast car, and there are a lot of them.

Tony, is your '06 GT still bone stock? and how long is that going to last? :drive:
Robert

Nine Ball 04-02-2006 05:09 PM

still bone stock. Probably will remain stock until the turbo kit shows up.

Justin3v06 04-05-2006 11:53 AM

I was getting all excited about running, but then I saw who posted this and realized that you're on the NE side, not the NW side... :(

I still may come out to run your Stang, though.. :drive:

I actually saw one up in Burnet (NW of Austin) 2000 Z28. I couldn't believe my eyes, after I lowered my car a bit and saw how high it sat on stock springs I though he put a lift kit on it.

Pewter02TA 04-10-2006 03:34 PM

the borla is capped:)

Lswonder 04-15-2006 02:21 PM

bbqz28 04-18-2006 03:17 PM

I bought my 99 w/ 3.23 gears, in late 04 and it was bone stock. I took it to the track and ran a 13.6/103.

Looks like stock LS1's and Stangs are pretty much even. Mine ran a 13.42 @ 101.80 mph with a crank pulley. Probably would have been 13.52 without the pulley.

I don't think so Larry if you look at the vast majority of times 'stangs
are putting down. They are generally in the high 13's at low 100 trap
speeds. LS1's have potential to run low 13's at high 10x traps.

They're close, but the edge is definitely to the LS1 IMO. Who am
I talking to though? You know as well as I do. :D

Yea, I know....my run was on a cool night, with an underdrive pulley, with spare and front sway bar removed. And the two big heavy chunks of steel on the rear axle. I would say your "bone" stock LS1 or mine back then would have the edge over my 3V!

Reason I know for sure, I had a friend that had me drive his LS1 "bone" stock with spare and nothing removed and I ran a 13.2 in his car. Air was fairly good that night but I don't think quite as good as my 13.42 with my Mustang.
