What would you guys like to see in a Mustang site?

We know there are several Mustang sites, but all of them have problems to go with the positives. What are some of the things that you guys/gals would like to see on HighTechMustang, and what are some of the things you don't want to see?

Feedback is encouraged!

no bickering or people thinking they are better than others just b/c they have a faster car or nicer car.

MORE TECH and LESS TALKIN ABOUT BS! hehe. I was just about to make a post asking "So where's the tech at?" after I read the latest posts.

A size limit on Signatures (Banner imgs AND text length). People don't like scrolling through a signature as long as a book to get to the next post on the thread.

A yearly / semi-yearly meet at the track or something like that. Nothing is better than putting faces with the names.

Someone to sponsor my car with the parts I need to upgrade on my motor (porting, cam, stroker kit). LOL.

That's not asking for too much is it? ;)

Brains 04-04-2006 05:15 PM

All it takes is folks to start posting 'tech ;) Fred, you've got metric tons of information on things we find simple, but others likely haven't tackled personally. Your subframes rock, your gear installs are absolutely meticulous, etc. Once people get used to asking questions, its easier to jump in with the answers. Right now, its mainly a bunch of guys who already have quite a bit of base knowledge and built cars. Once more folks on here get their hands on new setups and cars, tech swap will come naturally.

BigBronco 04-04-2006 05:49 PM

A simple walk though on Gear installing would be awesome Fred! I mean you have to remember on how common gear installs are on Mustangs. I am going to start some things on a build up of a big twin turbo DOHC 4.6 we are doing at work, on top of our NMRA racing season, etc.

Brains 04-04-2006 08:20 PM

We need Neighbors. I mean the guy machined down his own shims for a tranny rebuild because he didn't have the exact one

Blue91 04-04-2006 08:27 PM

Yup... I'm not even going to begin to lecture on gear installs b/c everything I know I learned from the man, the myth, the legend... Chris Neighbors...

He wrote this article which is on my site and many many many others out there on the web (with his permission)... http://pomoforacing.com/tech/FTWOG.pdf (Need Acrobat Reader to view)

Blue91 04-04-2006 08:27 PM

Btw, no one wanted to take me up on the car sponsorship idea??? Come on! It's likely a 9 sec true street 4r70w car with portwork and a even a simple engine rebuild. ;)

Brains 04-04-2006 10:34 PM

I got some pocket lint I can spot ya :)

Blue91 04-04-2006 10:40 PM

schweet. I'll use it as wadding to polish the aluminum in the engine bay...

Can we get this as a sticky of whats expected of people? Also a mustang/LS1 get together would be awesome. Maybe organize four meets at different geographical regions so everyone can meet but not have to drive so far.

Nine Ball 04-06-2006 10:51 AM

Good ideas so far, keep 'em coming!

As for meets, we definitely plan on having those.

So does this mean you're gonna sponsor me with some portwork? :D

We are entertaining ideas of some form of sponsorship for cars that attend several Ford national drag racing events per year, and are top qualifiers. What is your racing resume like?

unit213 04-06-2006 01:39 PM

Personally, I'd like to see some high end drag racers as members. Keep in mind
how huge the Mustang drag racing scene is. There are plenty of guys pushing
the envelope and they are on the cutting edge of technology. Input from them
would be incredible. We have that on a somewhat limited basis on "the other" site.

Blue91 04-06-2006 02:04 PM

Tony,

I'm definitely no big name racer who travels around the country, hehe.

I usually make the FFW Houston and FFW Ennis events, and just run True Street since all of the other classes are high $$ to be competitive in. I've won the True Street low 11sec avg 3 different times (both Houston and Ennis events in 03). Basically, I have a street car on DRs that with a little more tuning and seat time should be in the mid 10s with a 4r70w trans and be able to drive to and from the track.

I'm not trying to "sell" ya on anything, haha. Just letting you know I'm not the kind of racer you'd want to sponsor since I don't have the truck/trailer/money to go travelling around racing in heads up events and be competitve. Mainly, I was kidding around with the entire "sponsorship" thing b/c I can't really spend any money on my car anymore, hehe.

My car could be a 9 second DR car with a motor rebuild, a good port job on the heads and intake, and by changing my pulley out. With a true street car like myself, the most I've known people to get from sponsors is their entry fees paid, maybe money for fuel, and things like that.

That's what I thought was so cool about Tony/John/Brian starting up a Mustang sight.

LS1TECH vs. HTM would be an awesome event.

JPC as a sponsor would be awesome. they are one of the top mustang team/shops around... that and theyre good people wholl help you out no matter what..

Swang 04-08-2006 10:03 AM

i definitely like the idea of more tech talk then a bunch of teens getting on here and talking about how good their flowmaster sounds.

Thoroughbred 04-08-2006 11:50 AM

Freds been in MM&FF more times that I can remember! Big balla!

PM me some info on them, and I'll contact them.

Personally I can't stand all of the constant "Do a search replies". I understand why but I think we can eleminate most of that by helping to eleminate alot of those repeated questions.

Maybe under each forum, ie. Pushrod, have a Common question Tech forum containing threads labeled Headers, another labeled Mufflers, Computer systems, Fuel systems etc. and each thread have strictly tech pertaining to it's respective topic.

I have done alot of searching when I want to know something in particular. Alot of times, it takes a good while to sort through a bunch of crap before you finally find what you are looking for. This seems like alot to do and I'm sure it would take alot of compiling, but it would make the site live up to it's name, (not that it wouldn't otherwise ;)

On a side note, I take it email notification is disabled?
