Default Blew up a V6, what are his replacement options?

My friend has an '05 with a V6 which he drove into a field while drunk the other night and continued driving until the motor overheated and seized up since the accident ripped the coolant lines apart. He was too drunk to realize he did any damage until it was way too late, plus got arrested

How easy is it to swap these? I know LS1's come out of the bottom or you have to strip it down to the block to get it out of the top.

I figure he has a couple options:
New V6 for $3,500

Used V8 for ??? along with what else is the real question? I'm assuming wiring harness, motor mounts, maybe a bellhousing. Has anyone swapped a V6 for a V8 in these new stangs?

Maybe a built up V8 with heads and cams plus all the extras mentioned above.

What's everybody think?

AA...Good Call! Being an LS1 guy, I don't know a lot of the details of bumping him up to a V8. I knew he could probably get V8 for a good price, equivilant to a 6 banger, spend a little more and get a beefy V8. What I don't know is what else is going to have to get swapped out like wiring harness, bellhousing, mounts, stuff like that. He's suppossed to be "looking into it" but as you can tell, he's not always the brightest star in the sky.

Not sure how the mounts line up on the new cars, but I suspect they're very similar to the SN95's. I'm sure dropping in the V8 would be not much more than the engine, transmission, engine harness, and PCM.

Sell the car and buy a bicyle. He's lucky blowing the motor is all he did while drunk driving.
