Question What software is available for 05-06?

Does anyone currently sell laptop based software for custom tuning these '05-06 Mustangs?

The TwEECer is used pretty heavily around here, and the author lives in Katy

I have the SCT Pro Racers package. It allows you to change anything in the EEC and to log. It works good but if you have HP Tuners you won't like it quite as well.

The compare feature is excellent but different than the HP. It would be nice to have both types. It is much slower flashing than HP tuner. You have to program through the hand held and then again into the EEC. SCT has excellent customer support verses almost no support from HP. HP does have Horist's bin Repository that is sure handy and of course LS1Tech with all the help in the world. Seems most 05-06 Mustang owners just order the hand help and use dealer supplied bin files. I wanted full control myself.

The only thing I really don't like so far is you can't log knock retard nor can you start a log with the space bar. I called and they plan to upgrade eventually. For now you just have to find that little green button to start a log. For KR just look at what your timing is running.

I would buy it again if I had it to do over. If HP had one for Ford I would have certainly gone with HP.

Tony,

The SCT is tied into one vehicle. You can return the vehicle to stock and program another vehicle. So it is sellable. I believe too that you can log another vehicle without having to return the original to stock.

I paid $550 for the hand held and the Pro Racers package. They send you a code number via email once you load the CD and fax them a signed copy of their licensing agreement. You need to have your vehicle EEC number when you order. It is on a paper tag on your EEC.

From what I understand you can log with a lap top, change some items like timing, fuel, gear and maybe fans with just the hand held. You do a download from their site. I haven't really need that with the Pro package so don't know for sure what you can change. I do know the items I wanted to change could not be done with just the hand held.

HP Tuners either has, or will have tuning for '05 and newer Mustangs and other Fords.

PSI Motosports in Webster is also a great SCT tuner. I have an XCal2 tuned by them and I love it.

The 05-06 Mustangs do not have a J3 port. Therefore you can't use a traditional chip or TwEECer on it. They can only be programmed through the OBDII port. I've used Diablo Predators on them, but then again I'm a Diablo dealer and can put a custom tune on the Predators if need be. But I do have to say that for your typical exhaust, CAI, gears 05-06 Mustang, the Predator's built in tunes do very well.

SCT does sell the racers package for the 2005+ Mustangs, allowing full control of the tune, as well as a handheld so no laptop is needed to tune the vehicle. The hardware is vin locked when there is a tune in the vehicle, once flashed back to stock, the units can be used on another vehicle.

The PRP is the only current software that is available to the end user enthusiast for full control at this time.

The Knock sensor datalogging is currently being worked on for the LiveLink software, with initial testing going well.
