Default Opnions on cat backs

One of the techs at my work just bought a 01 Mustang GT and It has BBK shortie headers and a aftermarket X pipe with the cats eleminated. (I think he might put the cats back on) The cat back is stock and he wanted to know what are good cat backs on the stangs. As in best flow, quality. If anyone could let me know some opnions or what not it would be great.. Thanks

^^^ good advice. I did the same. Tell him to save his money on whole catback systems and just weld in a muffler. Tell him to leave the cats off and get any type of straight through muffler. Don't get a chambered muffler (i.e. flowmaster). It will sound very raspy with a catless x-pipe. -Mark

I really like the Magnaflow system on my 01. I will like it even more once I get a new xpipe.

What kind of muffler did you use to replace your stock one?

I went with the standard flowmaster chambered mufflers. But if you combine a o/r x pipe w/ a chambered muffler you get a real raspy sound and IMO sounds like crap. O/R X's sounds good with a straight through muffler and O/R H's like chambered mufflers. -Mark

i had an o/r H pipe with magnapacks and it sounded mean as can be. borla stinger mufflers wouldnt be too bad either, also known by borla as "s types." as they said, a staright through muffler, not a chamber. there is your best advice.
