80 mph in Texas

I heard they where gonna raise your speed limits to 80mph. Just seeing if this was a rumor. Wish CA would do this.

I haven't heard anything, but in the rural areas it sure would make sense. There's still a LOT of wide open nothingness in Texas, that takes forever to drive through

Must be nice, In Kentucky the rural expressways are 65 mph, and the 8-12 lane express ways here in Louisville are a whopping 55 mph.

blueeyeddevil 05-21-2006 07:32 PM

The fastest in Ca is 70 and thats only a few roads. My sister lives in maryland she tells me they can only go 50. I dont think I could manage that on a long drive.

Yea I saw Leno talking about somthing to that effect, I knew I-10 in Kansas used to be 80 mph>

Thoroughbred 05-22-2006 10:09 AM

people drive 80 in tejas anyways

unit213 05-22-2006 11:31 AM

Speed limits are 70mph here in Michigan on the highways. I'm ok with that.
75mph is about the norm and cops don't mess with you unless you're at 77+mph.
My shit revs too high at 80mph anyway because of the gear/tire combo.

WS-Six02 06-22-2006 11:07 AM

hopefully because if the speed limit is 80 then i can cruise in the fast lane at 90 :)

HYBRED 07-03-2006 08:26 AM

It's true. I think it affects I-20 and I-10 out of El Paso.

Oh, it's TRUE!!!! And DON'T GO OVER 85mph or you WILL get a ticket. I just got one for 89 in a 80 last Sunday July 2nd. They give you 85 and that's it. My parents neighbor got one for 86!!!

Urban Legend 09-20-2006 10:47 PM

Speed limit needs to be 100 mph.

I think there is a stretch of highway between Andrews & Odessa that is 75mph.....I wouldn't mind seeing some higher speed limits on highways and interstates, but people in Lubbock drive bad enough as it is, with a 60mph limit on the Loop, lol.

HOTRODKEV 10-26-2006 12:51 PM

Man I know that if your not driving at least 80 on the tollway in Houston you will get run over.

xfactor_pitbulls 11-04-2006 03:38 PM

I think 75 is fast enough really. You can cruise at 80 or 85 if you wanna push it. Basically most of New Mexico and Colorado is 75 and thats good enough for me. Of course thats driving a 3500 LWB truck with a 1000lb welder and loaded down with tools. :)
