Question 4.10 gears

i know that 4.10 gears are a lil over kill on a 98 stock gt auto. but are they actually hurting the car by keeping it wound up all the time?

Well for starters 4.10's for an auto 4.6 is actually a good thing. BUT, a 98 GT heads flow about as good as a mixing straw. They die about 4800-5000rpms. I bet if he puts in 3.73's it would probably wake up the car a bit. But 4.10's on a PI headed (99+) Gt would be great. Tell your buddy if he is going to absolutely keep the car to swap heads. Then he'll be smiling ear to ear with those 4.10's. -Mark
