View Full Version : Take a guess - mark up on new Cobras?
Nine Ball 03-09-2006, 11:04 PM Anyone like to take a guess on how much the new Shelby's will be marked up? I'm guessing the first few will hit 8-10K over MSRP, and it will probably be around 3K over MSRP for the first year.
Unless you are a lucky bastard with connections! :jest:
DONAIMIAN 03-10-2006, 06:10 PM I say its gona go in the 45 range. Thoes cars are gona be bad. Its to the point where if your LS1 dosent have heads and cam, your not gona keep up.
Vendetta 03-10-2006, 07:07 PM Rape will occur...
I definitely want one.
HYBRED 03-11-2006, 12:38 PM Past history of markups - $150k for Ford GT....$15-30 on C6 Z06's...around $10k for '03 Cobras...(all of this for the first three months or so of craziness)
I would guess in the $15k range (at first), the Shelby name means a lot to people who really wanted one "back when they were in high school," and who spent the last 30 years or so working, making money, and dreaming of that car from long ago. It'll settle out, it almost always does, but at first it will be crazy.
| Powered by Satan | 03-14-2006, 03:03 AM i assume final prices will be around 50-55K... so a 15-20k markup... and this is coming from somebody in the know ;)
WILWAXU 03-27-2006, 03:01 PM I'm hereing as much as 20K mark up. That's crazy on a $40K car.
PendragonZ 03-27-2006, 04:40 PM I hope not too bad. I'd consider one if it wasn't too high.
WILWAXU 03-30-2006, 05:43 PM I'd be willing to pay sticker.. but much over that would be very hard to justify.
JBsC5 03-30-2006, 11:29 PM Paying over msrp for a shelby ?
I'd guess 5 grand over within 12 months for those who can wait.
Cool car!
BWH2003 03-31-2006, 01:30 PM I think a few will go for 20k over then it will settle at around 8-10k like nine ball said. After that it might be 1-2k until the run is over
unit213 03-31-2006, 03:30 PM $15K over MSRP.
Are we allowed to bash the GT500 here or should I take it over to Tech? :D
BWH2003 03-31-2006, 03:36 PM I would say lets get hissman over here and he can bash it with you either here or in tech :joecool:
they're gonna do the same to the camaro :bang:
Urban Legend 04-04-2006, 12:06 AM Let the dummies pay over sticker/soak up the problems during the first year. Then get it below sticker for the second year run.
V-Rocket 04-08-2006, 03:16 PM Got my GT500 ordered, 1st on my dealer list, below MSRP. Nice to have friends in high places.
Speeds8erM-1 04-09-2006, 12:04 AM I can remember in 2001 there was a Cobra at one of the local Ford dealerships sitting on a rotating display. I looked at the price tag, $7500 markup!!!!!! On a fugging 01! Im sure whoever paid that is PISSED now. :eek2: The 03's around here were bringing $7500-$8000 markup but there were still people paying less than MSRP on them. The new ones are gonna have an insane markup just like the new Z06's!
mellowyellow 04-15-2006, 06:47 PM I have a freind here in TX that works at Don Davis Ford .. His Boss Mr. Davis said about 10-15K over sticker.. But He has dibs on the 2nd one they get.. :drive:
blueeyeddevil 05-12-2006, 01:26 PM I talked to three differnent dealerships, one in roseville one in san luis obispo, and one in hanford california. Both roseville and slo said they had the first ones on a list and they are going for $100,000, only the hanford dealership said they were not selling them before and that they did not have a price on them yet.

That is ridiculous. But then again you can go to Ebay and bid on a pre-order for the car. If you win the auction for the pre-order you get to buy the car.
HeapaShifter 06-11-2006, 02:00 PM I'd say about a $12k-$15k markup will be average.
I work at a Cadillac dealership and when the XLR first came out there was a $17k markup. A 320 hp Cadillac two-door selling for $92,000.
Of course someone still bought them. Rich people just want the newest thing because no one else has it yet.
