A blower and budget? Which is it? Your cheap entry level A-trim is gonna run 1500$ or so. Why not spray it? If he's not going to do any internal mods to it either one will be sufficient. Smaller budget as in total mod money or total for cost of car and mod money? A 4.6 DOHC with simple bolt-ons and tires can get into the mid 12's without ever having to take the intake or valve covers off. No need for big ticket modifications. But insurance will probably be cheaper with a pushrod. -Mark

I got a 4.6 because its newer, and thus likely to be a nicer car. I ran high 13's with less than $500 in mods (tires, shifter, gears). Another $500 could put me in the 12's with a 100 shot :)

A new 4.6 2V would be a nicer, newer car and run high 13's bone stock. It isnt as hard to find a nice clean one where it would be tougher to find a clean foxbody. Granted modding the Foxbody can be cheaper.
