Actually, think about that for a minute -- how would the tail wind affect the thrust from the engines? Assuming you kept the engines running, would there be enough thrust to overcome the tailwind?

Notice I said a grounded plane, not a stationary plane. The plane would still move, it just wouldn't have lift.

Ok I was thinking that the plane would be stationary like a person running on a treadmill or a car on a dyno. So in theory the plane isn't moving. That why I was thinking it wouldn't take off. -Mark
