ditching my 69 project mustang

well about a month ago i acquired a 69 mustang coupe, needs a lot of work, i just didnt know how much. i got it for nothing from a friend who just wanted it out of their driveway. the motor didnt spin, it did nothing when you put a battery to it, and i found out the floorboards were rotted out. it sat for the past 14 years.

just after working on it the other day i realized the project was well over what i could do right about now.

goodbye 69!!!!

next time ill start with something more solid, good thing i didnt put any $$$ into it yet.

pics of it can be found here on my ebay auction.....

Damn, I assumed it was in that kind of condition. Matt made it seem like it needed a ground-up rebuild. Oh well. There's plenty of time to restore another classic car, though.

yeah exactly, i didnt realize how much work it really needed till i got it myself and was able to look through everything thoroughly myself

I have the same problem with a 68 ford truck I have. It just sits there now an eye sore. Unlike you I have money invested in it which I know I can never recover. I built a 460 for it and put it in place of the old 390. It ran good for about 4 months tell the torque got to every thing behind the motor. (broken the tranny once, broke the drive line, broke the rear end (dana 60,)) Now I am stuck with it tell I put more money it to get it back on the road.

woah, that would be a ton of work. Worth it for a fast back, but not a coupe. You would have thousands invested in rebuilding a coupe and it wouldn't be worth much.

exactly what i was thinking,i kinda like the look of the coupe a bit more to be honest but the car isnt worth much. if it was a boss or mach 1 or something more rare it would be worth it for someone or me to restore. its already going for more than i thought it would so im not complaining at all

well at least you are getting something for nothing. I'd love to get an old car like that for cheap to put my engine in... but I'd never find one in decent enough condition for cheap. That looks like it'd take A LOT of money and work to restore. I saw in your profile you were selling it, and I was like WTF!?!?!... then I clicked on the ebay auction... definitely see why you are selling it.
