Hey Everybody!

Hey guys! Might I say it's awesome to be apart of the Hightechmustang Forums! So here's the dealio.. For a while now I've wanted a throaty, nice v8. Something to build that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I'm in-experienced in these areas. So my friends who are Gas Guzzlers tell me to go with a 5.0 Mustang. Saying they are very inexpensive and can make excellent horsepower for a small amount of funding in comparison to other Vehicles.. I just wanted to introduce myself and ask the question. 90-93 GT? Or 95-96 5.0? Thanks guys!

Welcome aboard!

FWIW, the 5.0 went out with the 1995 model year. In 1996, Ford made the switch to the "modular" 4.6L .. Both can be built to make power, but your wallet determines just how much

It really depends on what you plan to use the car for. If it will be a daily driver, I'd go with a 99-04 GT, as it will be in better shape and more reliable, and you can find a nice one for not much more than you can find a nice Fox body (87-93)* It will cost more to modify, however. If you're looking for something to tinker with on the weekends, nothing beats the 5.0 for a project car. As you were told, parts are cheap and plentiful, as are the cars themselves. It's just a matter of personal preference whether you get a 5.0 in a Fox or an SN95 (94-95), as the major differences are styling, size and weight. If I hadn't needed my car as a daily, I probably would have gotten a Fox body.

* All Mustangs from 79 to 93 are built on the Fox platform, but there are two distinct eras of the Fox platform. The most desireable and easy to find Foxes are the 87-93, as they have a more "aerodynamic" front end, fuel injection and mass air already.

O yeah, welcome to the site!
