01 GT options

Alright, buddy has a bolt-on M5 with Nitto 315s on the back. Im doin H/C on my Camaro shortly, and he wants to do something similar. He went 13.88 with stock size street tires and gears, before pullies and exhaust. he wants a solid 12 second car. He is also thinking about a motor swap, maybe a 4v cobra motor. How much work is it to do something of this calibur? Money wise, how much should he save? Also, whats a solid H/Cs setup for a 2v making solid power. Made this post in the pushrod v8 secton and realized it was in the wrong section.

Here is a list of different setups he can choose from...( I assume he is staying N/A)...

2V-
-Teksid Block (Aluminum) $200-300
+Flat Top Pistons (w/ valve reliefs)$500
+ Forged H-beam Rods $450
+Cast Crank (more than enough strength to handle the power)$200-300

-Stg.2 or 3 Port&Polished PI heads New $1300
-Stg.2.5 Cushman Cams $550
-Full Exhaust -LTs, X or H pipe and Cat-back $1000-1200
-JLT or Anderson Power Pipe Cold-air Intake $250
-Custom Dyno Tune w/ SCT X-cal 2 or 3 $600-800

That setup right there will yield you probably in the neighborhood of 320-350rwhp.

You could do a Stroker kit in the Teksid block and easily be in the 350-365rwhp range. That would put your average mustang easily in the High to mid 12's as long as the car is setup for it.

4V-
-Used 03-04 Cobra Heads $500-600 Fully Assembled
-Used 01 Cobra Intake with all accessories $450-550
-Parts you'll need to do the swap
+Cobra/ Bullitt/ Mark VIII Alternator
+4V Timing Cover and all the timing chains ETC.
+4V Mid-section exhaust either X or H pipe (4V heads are wider thats why its needed)
+ Alot of small things depending on what he already has modified

The Stock Cobra motor with a full exhausts and intake will yield you somewhere in the 300-320rwhp range.

Buying a Complete Cobra engine for about $1600-2000 would be the easiest because it is basically just a drop in deal besides a few minor changes like exhaust mid section and alternator.

Now a modified 4V can really make some power. If you were to have the 4V heads Port and Polished, topped off with a good set of Stg. 2 or 3 cams from Crower and Full exhaust. You would be looking at making some where in the neighborhood of 360-380rwhp.

A buddy of mine just did a fully P&P 4V motor with Stg.3 cams, Full exhausts and had the engine "Big Bored" to a 5.0L and he put 410rwhp with a built auto tranny.

It all really depends on how much your friend wants to save and how far he is really willing to go.

Drag Time wise...

The 2V Built motor with 4.10s your looking at an easy mid-low 12

The Stock 4V Cobra motor with 4.10s your looking at high to mid 12s

The Built P&P 4V Cobra motor with 4.10s and Driver Mod, your looking at low 12s high 11s.

Now this is all with good traction and Driver Mod of course.

Hope this helps you get started, feel free to ask about anything.
