05 header install notes...
 

got the hookers on today. install overall wasn't too bad, but the instructions they came with were HORRIBLE. they really weren't much help at all. here are a few notes I'll share to make it easier. sorry, no pics :(

get a 13mm gear wrench. I don't know how you can do this without one. I bet it saved an hour or two.
jacking up the engine is a must at times. just take those 2 motor mount nuts out in the beginning. it will make it easier.
the starter must come out. go ahead and do that in the beginning to. this must be removed to get a few bolts on the passenger side header in.
the pedistal mount on the passenger side has to come out. it is the part that goes from the block to the motor mount. you can not get to one bolt on the stock manifold with it in there.
the steering shaft has to be disconnected like the instructions say. its kind of a bitch. the slip joint doesn't want to slip.
make sure to take note of where the dispstick goes. I had a hell of a time getting it back in because I didn't pay attention. I should add, I'm used to working on LS1's so I was looking on the passenger side for the hole :lol:
I had the car about 18 inches off the ground and that was plenty of room to get the headers in and out. the instructions say you need 36" :eyes:

I am installing some headers and motor mounts here in the near future. WHat is your initial impression of the gains? Thanks for the tips!

I'll try to get it on the dyno this week. not doing WOT runs until I can verify A/F.

also, I did not do solid mounts and don't see that they are necessary. there is plenty of clearance and no banging.

another interesting thing. I did not need the 02 extensions that cam with the kit

ok, I knew I couldn't resist. it feels damn good WOT. a nice healthy gain :) will put it on the dyno asap

I am installing JBAs and supposedly they tuck up so close to the floorboard/framerails that header slap comes with time. I don't want to take the BFH to the floorboard like my last car, so I am going with the urethane/lowering mounts.
