My 88 weighed in the low 2300# range. These new stangs are heavier than my 88 was stock. But run better times. I never had my 88 to the track bone stock but I would guess a 15 is about all it would have done with that 2.73 automatic.

TJs98GT 03-12-2006 12:44 PM

no weight reduction here, right about 3500 with me in it

That 2300-2330#(depending on how much fuel) weight was with me in it.

The car was completely gutted. I had probably every light weight component that could be bought. You wouldn't believe all I did to the car and couldn't even list everything here because I don't even remember everything I did. I can remember working for a couple hours at times to remove just 1/4 pound of weight. I did have a four point roll bar.

My 88 was labeled the blue bathtub because it was not much more than a tub inside. It sound more like a can when I shut the door than a bathtub. It was stock looking from the outside.

HYBRED 03-13-2006 01:21 AM

With me, 1/4 tank, and spare tire, the car weighed 3260. I have a 2000 GT M5 Coupe with cloth interior and no Mach 460. This was after I added the heavy wheels and front brakes. I'm hoping to put her on a diet and get her under 3k (without me) by the end of summer.

Brains 03-13-2006 06:40 AM

One of my first stops after finishing up my coupe, is the scales. I'm hoping to tip the scales right around 3000lbs. with me in it, but I'm afraid my seat choice (2003 leather GT seats, front and rear) is going to push me closer to 3100. I've removed most of the sound deadening material, and swapped from a 302cid iron block/iron head/alum intake, to an alum block/head, plastic intake, single cam motor ;)

K Bo 03-13-2006 05:02 PM

Race weight

I have a 2006 GT, 5 speed, leather, 18 inch wheels. At the time I had done nothing to the car, no weight reduction, no mods. I weighed the car with a quarter tank of gas, and me out of it. It tipped the scales at 3,480lbs. So if I calculate right that would put the car at just under 3,450lbs. race weight. I am pretty confident I can shave 50 lbs. off the care without a problem, considering what I was reading about the metal chunks on the axle, whatever those are supposed to be anyways. :drive:

Bitemark46 03-28-2006 04:10 PM

TwoFast4Lv 04-02-2006 11:21 AM

DAMN! My F-body comes in 3,800 with me and fuel :(

Blue91 04-02-2006 12:04 PM

3625 lbs with me in it (~205 lb)

93 GT, 4r70w trans, heavy motor with heavy accessories.

I've done zero weight reduction (has all of the sound deadening). Only thing missing is the a/c and hvac box (b/c I didn't want to spend the $$ on the AC to make it work properly and I don't need heat in Houston).

If I had that stuff, it'd be heavier. :-\

-Joseph- 04-02-2006 08:44 PM

My 89 GT is currently at 2960 less driver, I put it at 3165 raceweight with a 1/4 tank of fuel. I have AC Delete and PS delete, but still have the HVAC box under the dash. Also removed the front metal fog light mount bar, and the rear bumper support. Everything else is as stock with full interior.

I'll be pulling the crash shocks out next, and the underdash A/C unit. I may put a k-member in it and fiberglass hood on it when I can get no more "free" weight out. I'd like it at 3000 raceweight, but not sure how hard that will be, especially if I put a 80 lb cage in it. :(

3000 pounds is a piece of cake. My 88 weighed 2430# with me in it. Ran 10.3 et.

-Joseph- 04-03-2006 12:35 AM

I don't think I'll get mine quite that light! ;) Was there anything big removed, or was it ounces that led to pounds? Everyone that has raced Mustangs says its easy to get weight out, but I guess I just don't see it other than the obvious.

Hmm...My 10.6 could have been a 9.9 if it weighted that little. :D

There were big things removed and a lot of small things. I had almost every lightweight component you can buy. The outside was stock looking except for the wheels. The inside was gutted.

My 347 engine dynoed 360hp and 530# torque behind a C4 with a PI 3200 stall. Doesn't take much hp to run good ET's if you get your car is light enough.

Franco 04-03-2006 09:22 PM

3320 w/ me in it

1993 Cobra
393 carburated Windsor
Powerglide

AJE K member

Ii was under a 06 GT - auto yesterday with less than 400 miles on it. It didn't have the cast iron weights on it. Wonder what the difference is?
