Clutch swap
I recently got a bunch of used clutch parts : a 99 Cobra pressure plate, flywheel, and throw out bearing, and an '03 Mach 1 disc (with 15k miles - we mic'd it, it's good). I read somewhere that my car (2000 Mustang GT) has the 8-bolt crank, like the '99 Cobra (except not forged, I dont think) so the Cobra parts should work. I'm pretty sure though, that my car currently has (if it's stock) a 10.5" clutch in it, and all the new parts are for an 11" clutch...but since I'm changing everything, would that matter?
I guess what I'm asking is, can I use these parts or do I need to order a whole new setup? |
You could use that setup.....but why? Spend $189 for a King Cobra clutch from Tommy Vaughn, and dont worry about having to do it again anytime soon. The King Cobra clutch will work with your factor 10.5" flywheel, and it'll come with a new TOB.
BTW-there is 6 bolt flywheels and 8 bolt flywheels. Do you have longtubes installed? |

No longtubes...yet. I know there are 6 bolt and 8 bolt cranks. I was thinking 11 in clutch when I typed it :bang: |
I got my Kc clutch kit for 165 and love it.

kc = King Cobra? A friend of mine put that in his car and it had a really heavy pedal. That's one of the problems I'm trying to get rid of right now.

I bet it wasnt as heavy 500-750 miles later ;)

Mine has over 600miles now, and its just as smooth and no heavier than it was when it first went in. |
