Wax, Who uses what?

just as the title says guys. also do you clay bar, use paint cleaner, etc.?

BLKWS.6 04-17-2006 07:31 AM

Dont use it, I use Hot Flash car polish, takes about 30 minutes to do a car and so far looks superior in gloss to any wax I have previously used. It is $20 a bottle though...

Larry 04-17-2006 07:40 AM

Keep you car in a garage at night and you won't need any wax. The new paints/clear coats the factorys use do very well protecting our cars from fade.

BLKWS.6 04-17-2006 11:40 AM

Hrmmm...someone's car is going to get shown up big time on cruise night....:) If you were correct Larry, world class show cars would not be so meticulously waxed, they never even SEE sunlight.

BLKWS.6 04-17-2006 11:41 AM

It's not about fade, its about shiney and smooth

Robert B. 04-17-2006 12:22 PM

NXT here...

Quick86 04-17-2006 12:30 PM

NXT here as well. Good stuff..

Cant go wrong with mothers, though when the stang is running it needs some serious paint restoration, definitely going to get the full zano finish after a lot of elbow grease.

I didn't read shiney and smooth in the question. No doubt waxing does smooth the paint. I assumed he was talking about us guys who just want our cars to look good, not show room good! I want to look good and go fast, no show car here...

BLKWS.6 04-17-2006 04:27 PM

I think waxing the car is as integral as changing the oil. Different strokes for different folks. IF i had a good paint job i bet i would be a NUT!!!

Meguiars...from soap, to wax.

blue302stang 04-18-2006 06:21 PM

Tropi-care...from soap, to wax. I use the porter cable 7424 kit from tropi-care too along with clay bar. Smooth as glass, and use their spray detailer and it feels like it had just been waxed

unit213 04-18-2006 09:03 PM

NXT for me...cheap, easy, and it works very well.
I'm with Larry. My shit isn't a show car, but I do like it
to look decent. It doesn't have to be anywhere near show
quality...just clean and shiny is fine by me.

 on the PC 7424!

unit, seeing your pic...it looks like you've got a "show car" as far as the shine goes. That thing looks great.

HYBRED 04-19-2006 01:08 AM

Meguiars cleaner wax...since my car is an outdoor car (unfortunately) I need some help getting the tree sap off without breaking out the scotchbright.

Tom's_03SVT 04-19-2006 09:28 PM

tropi-care here....

red2003cobra 04-20-2006 12:29 AM

I use a PC 7424 with Poorboy's and ClearKote products. I'm into the show car perfection on my car.

Wish I could keep mine that clean, but trees and birds want otherwise!

Tom's_03SVT 05-14-2006 04:58 AM

Zymol.
After waxing give the panel a fine mist of water from a spray bottle and one last buff with a micro fiber towel to "settle" everything... :hail: Glossy

Claybar + Zymol + a garage = perfection.
