Ever since I installed a MAC CAI, my car has had serious starting problems. The only way to get it to run is to sit in the car and pedal the gas between 1-2k rpm until it decides to idle. After that, it runs just fine.

I would initially just think that I need a tune for the CAI, but last winter, before I got the CAI, the car had the same problem, and I assumed it was just the cold starts it didn't like. Now that it's started the problem up again, I don't know what to think.

Should I look into the tuning, or start checking out the sensors? The car has a lot of miles, so it could just be a bad sensor...like the IAC or something...?

Pull the IAC and clean everything. Make sure the IAC isn't stuck as well (ie. hold it firmly in your hand, and have someone cycle the key on/off without actually cranking the motor).

Turns out the hose that connects the IAC to the intake...came off. I was not responsible for that part of the install. Luckily, the guys at Oriellys were nice and gave me a peice of scrap hose that worked just fine :)

Good deal. Sometimes the cai can lean a car out just so you know.
